1939 Packard 1701 Sedan. 16,000 MILES. UNRESTORED ORIGINAL. See VIDEO. 1939 Packard 1701 Touring Sedan Listed on behalf of Monte Shelton Motors. Sold new by the Packard Motor Car Co. of Fort Worth, Texas on October 28, 1939, the original owner of this car is unknown. It is known that it made its way to California where it was stored and preserved for many years by a noted Packard collector. Today, the mileage showing of just 16,643 miles is believed to be true and correct. All indications of the condition of the car confirm this mileage. Outside, it wears its original, 76 year-old "Packard Blue" paint. Condition overall is very good, with some areas of crazing and rubbing to the lacquer, with a few old touch-ups noted. Please see photos. The chrome and trim are excellent with no pitting, testament to living in a dry climate. (Bumpers may have been re-chromed at some time in the past.) The interior is amazing, and again points to the accuracy of the mileage. The upholstery is supple (not ...

Originally owned by State of Indiana and assigned to Governor Clifford Townsend. The original Indiana 1939 license plate has a star and a numeric 1, indicating the plate was assigned to the governor's car. That tradition is still followed. Ownership since 1963 is known. Repainted once with nearly the same original gold color. Both original front fenders were replaced with fenders that included spare tire covers by owner John Smith after 1973. 1 spare wheel / tire included. My deceased father bought the car in May 2012 and restored it through November 2013. The restoration included a new top, tires, radiator, water pump, rear carpet, carburetor, horn, starter, exhaust manifold, intake manifold, fuel pump and other parts. There is a raised identification number (5I3I34) embossed in the firewall on the driver's side. Stored in garage heated to 68 F at all times since my father bought the car, except when driven. Delivery at Anderson, Indiana. Please call (512) 863-0346.

The body is solid, all doors open and close without sag. The interior is intact. All gauges are present and in good condition. There are minor surface rust specs on the body. There is one cancerous rust spot on the right rear fender. The engine turns over, I have not attempted to start it yet, but have no doubts that it will run. Video † † Up for bid is my 1931 Parkard Deluxe Rumble Seat Coupe Model 833. This is a lovely older ground up proper restoration that has held up very nice as you can see here in the movie and all the detailed pictures. This car underwent a recent complete mechanical rebuild from front to back far exceeding my reserve here on Ebay and only has 632 miles since the rebuild. This Packard has Four forward speeds with an extra low gear from the factory on 31 Packards referred to in the hobby as a Granny gear. Designed to go up any size hill no matter what. This is also the reason why some of these cars were cut up and used as tow trucks later on in the 1940ís. Luckily this car survived as a fine original before the restoration. †This is without question one of the nicest Driving Packards I ever owned. The car is tight with no wonder and handles beautiful.† All six tires are new as well showing little or no usage. All the chrome plating is excellent as is the interior and rumble seat area. The ...
