Founded in 1852 and incorporated in 1868 under the name of the Studebaker Brothers Manufacturing Company, the company was originally a producer of wagons for farmers, miners, and the military and became a significant manufacturer of motor vehicles for about 60 years. During the 1940's and 1950's, it was also a major manufacturer of light and medium-duty trucks in North America. This 1955 E-5 Pickup truck is presented in an interesting combination of green metal flake and caramel grille peppered with chrome trim and a hood ornament (new for 1955). A chrome edge running from front to rear highlighted the top of the bodywork in very similar fashion to that on the contemporary Lincoln Continental. The taillights were particularly fashioned after the Lincoln's, and the trunk lid was given a faux brightwork "grille" overlay (to hide the grooves of the otherwise carryover 1956-61 lid) that resembled the Lincoln as well. Stevens's extensive yet inexpensive modifications to the body finally rid the car of the 1950s-style tailfins and bodyside trim of previous models. The rear window was nearly flat and recessed, reducing the cost of an ordinarily expensive piece of glass. Overall, the exterior look kept the smooth, aerodynamic ...

HI I AM SELLING MY 58 STUDEBAKER SCOTSMAN WAGON. IF YOUR READING THIS I DONT HAVE TO TELL YOU HOW RARE THIS WAGON IS ; ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION. IT RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL FLAT HEAD, SIX CYLINDER ENGINE. THIS ENGINE WAS REBUILT BY ITS PREVIOUS OWNER ABOUT 5 YEARS AGO. HE HAD OWNED THIS CAR FOR APPROXIMATLY 20 YEARS. WHEN I BOUGHT IT HE WAS STILL ENJOYING IT AND IT WAS NOT A BARN FIND. THE ENGINE RUNS REALLY STRONG. IT STARTS RIGHT UP WITH A LITTLE CHOKE EVERYTIME. THERE ARE NO NOISES,LEAKS OR SMOKE. ITS A CRUISER NOT A MUSCLE CAR. THE 3 SPEED ON THE COLUM IS WHAT I BELIEVE TO BE ORIGINAL AS WELL. IT SHIFTS THRU THE GEARS WITH EASE AND THERE ARE NO SYNCRO NOISES. THE CLUTCH FEELS NORMAL AS WELL. THE OVER DRIVE WORKS BUT FROM TIME TO TIME THE CABLE GETS STUCK. MAY EVENTUALLY NEED A NEW CABLE. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT IS COMPLETE AND VERY TIDY. I HAD THIS WAGON PAINTED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO AND ITS NOTHING SHORT OF AMAZING. OBVIOUSLY BETTER THEN NEW. THIS WAS ONLY WAS OFFERED IN ONLY 3 COLORS ...

Loewy, who hadn't worked for Studebaker since 1956, jumped in with enthusiasm, promising Egbert a sporting coupe of revolutionary design, from which a complete line of family cars would evolve. Studebaker quit before the family cars were finished, but Loewy did give Egbert one brief shining moment with the memorable 1963-1964 Studebaker Avanti. Avanti in Italian means "forward" and this consignment certainly does that. Not only with its supercharged engine, but with its beautiful Mid-Century Modern design and forward-thinking ...

1952 Champion Starliner Coupe 169.9 CID 1BBL-85 HP, 6 Volt system, positive ground. 3 speed manual transmission w/overdrive. Shovelnose design. Nocturne Blue top over Maui Blue body. This was Studebaker's first Hardtop convertible with a quality interior and pillarless roof. INTERIOR HIGHLIGHTS: The interior of this vehicle is in great shape and is highlighted by the sofa like front seat that has been reupholstered in an eye catching red. The strikingly designed instrument panel features easy to read and "1952 state of the Art" back lit gauges which were designed to reduce eye fatigue and glare. The dash on the car is finished in color keyed and high gloss Maui Blue paint, they just don't make cars with this kind of detail any more.
